About Cygnea Cantio Rosaries

Cygnea Cantio is Latin for "swan song".

"The swan song is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death, having been silent during most of their lifetime."

In many ways, I feel that like the mythical swan, I've been silent in many ways, and about many things- for most of my life. It's only now in the later years of my life, that I feel that I'm finally able to fully sing- both literally (as a cantor and singer of sacred/liturgical music) and metaphorically through the creative nature of my artisan crafted Rosaries and handmade products.

I've long been fascinated with swans, and their representation in art, music, dance, mythology, and literature. In many ways, the concept of the "Swan Song", is a daily reminder for me of my own mortality.

Memento Mori" - Latin for, "Remember your death" begs the question of each and every one of us... what will you leave behind? How will you use your gifts? What beautiful "song" will you sing?

My Rosaries are inspired by sacred art and music, and nature. They are medium to large in size (unless otherwise specified)- my standard size Ave beads are 7-8 mm and Pater beads are 10-12mm. I always show my Rosaries held in my hand for reference. I enjoy working in a modern-vintage style, with both faceted and semi-precious beads. Rosaries are continuously strung on sturdy coated metal beading wire.
